Description
Hatschbourg is an Alsace Grand Cru vineyard situated between the villages of Hattstatt and Voegtlinshoffen in the Haut-Rhin department of northeastern France. The site covers 47 hectares (116 acres) approximately 6 miles (10 km) from the commune of Colmar, with Hattstatt at its southeastern corner and Voegtlinshoffen in the northwest.
It is thought that Hatschbourg (previously Hattsburg) is named after a castle constructed by the lords of Hattstatt. In 1983, the vineyard was awarded its grand cru status and today Joseph Cattin ranks among some of the top producers from Hatschbourg.
